Bray Rowing Club (BRC) has a long and proud tradition, and evidence of this is still to be seen on the seafront today in the fine granite buildings of the Coastguard station. BRC is one of the oldest sports clubs around, with reference to Bray competing in the Dalkey regatta of 1875.

In the 1930s BRC were one of the most successful clubs on the east-coast, but after that rowing declined during the war years, and it was not until the early 50s before it was revived again.

Our present club was re-established in 1970 by Noel and Bill Walsh, Jack and Liam Cleary, Joe Naylor, Paul O Sullivan, Michael Doyle and a few dedicated others, and later became affiliated to the East Coast Rowing Council.

While Bray always had successful under age and ladies crews, it only when we got possession of our present boat house on the promenade, that we started to become a force on the East Coast, culminating in our historic win of the Wicklow senior cup.
